Breathe easier; schedule a November 11th Lung Cancer Screening.
– Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., often because symptoms do not appear until the cancer has spread. But there is hope: early detection through lung cancer screenings can save lives.
November is National Lung Cancer Awareness Month, and several MercyOne locations will be participating in the Statewide National Lung Screening Day on November 11. Lung cancer screening is safe, fast, painless, and covered by most insurance. If you are age 50 and older, with a history of smoking, it’s time to get screened.
Are you eligible for a lung cancer screening?
- Are you 50 to 77 years old?
- Do you currently smoke or have quit in the past 15 years?
- Do you have at least a 20-pack per year smoking history? (# of packs per day X # of years smoked = pack per year)
How can you schedule your lung screening?
- Talk with your primary care provider (PCP) today to get scheduled.
