Leadership Unlocked: Empowering Your Potential
The name alone should empower you to ask what this is and click around to find out more information. Empower (and all forms of the word) has been and will always be one of my all-time favorite professional terms. It’s a term that was first introduced to me in January 2012 – seems oddly specific, right?
It’s when I got my first full-time marketing job – empower was a term they instilled in their employees and did up until the day I resigned in 2019. I have continued to carry that term heavy in my career; knowing that I always want a work environment where I can be empowered to do all the things I was hired to do and create new objectives as my role evolves. To me, it means being trusted and listened to, not only from my direct boss, but also my colleagues as well as my board of directors.
One of my other favorite career things is professional development. Since my role now involves planning events, professional development means more than just attending, now it means I can provide those opportunities. It means that I can choose what I think would be beneficial to others, specifically our members, but also selfishly, for myself.
As someone who loves gleaning information from others and as someone who only takes the path of forward movement, offering a leadership focused professional development series is a no brainer. I’ve been in the professional space for long enough now that I know a boss (and even colleagues for that matter) can make or break the workplace. As an organization, one of our forever goals is to retain and attract top talent to our region (including leaders) – but if we don’t have the leaders in place to achieve that, the goal post will forever be off in the distance for us to find. It all starts from the top.
All this ultimately leads to my pitch for you to attend our new series, Leadership Unlocked: Empowering Your Potential. This series is being created after one of my life mentors [and Grow Clinton member] approached our office with the idea and to offer his expertise specifically regarding the topic of leadership and in simple terms, how to be an effective boss. He’s an educator. He’s a motivator. He’s a consultant. He’s a mentor. He’s Dr. Charlie Minnick.
A series such as this one is normally offered for thousands of dollars to its participants. But through our partnerships, and more specifically, Dr. Minnick’s philanthropic desire to give back to his community, we are able to offer this series at no cost to our attendees.
This monthly session (3rd Wednesday every month from 2-3pm) is part of our EntreFuel program and features a variety of leadership topics from different presenters from month to month. It will be available both in person at the Grow Clinton office and virtually via Teams. This will be a worthwhile experience for those on the path to a leadership position as well as for those currently in leadership positions. Those completing 8 out of 12 sessions will receive a certificate of completion as well as a digital copy of Stay Engaged… It’s Essential!
Our first session topic is Stepping up to the Challenge: Leadership Lessons Learned from the Trenches!; other series topics include Team Building & Collaboration, Navigating Gender Bias, The Dark Side of Leadership, and so much more – you don’t want to miss this!
