Newcomer Connection Program – River Roots, Presented by Grow Clinton
CLINTON, IA - Grow Clinton announces the inaugural River Roots: Newcomer Connection Program to be held September 11th and September 18th. The program runs 5:30-8:30pm for two Wednesdays and provides an overview of the River Cities through a night of getting to know the town and a fun trivia night. The two-night program will acclimate new residents with all things River Cities.
“This program was designed for residents who have been in the community for less than five years. We ask residents to register by September 6, and we highly encourage employers to ask their newer employees to register. The program is free for new residents,” said Stacy Borgeson, Director of Workforce Development and Talent Attraction at Grow Clinton.
September 11th will be held in the Avanti Room at Rastrelli’s. There will be brief presentations from Josh Eggers and Brandon Haines on the adult and kids’ programs through the Parks & Rec Department. Gabi Torres will talk about art in the area. Bill Misiewicz will engage the audience with events and nightlife. Mayor Maddison will close out the evening. After all presentations, the panel will conduct a Q&A session. A pizza and pasta bar will be served along with a cash bar.
September 18th will be held at the Rock Creek Eco-Center in Camanche with a trivia night with all questions designed to help a newcomer learn all the different things to do in the River Cities. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
“After these two nights, new residents will know the major events, the social gathering spots, the recreational opportunities, the history, and the vision of the River Cities. Andy and I always tell people we are not natives, but we learned the identity of Clinton. It’s what keeps us here. Our passion and experience of learning to call Clinton home is our objective with this Newcomer event,” said Matt Parbs, VP of Community and Economic Development at Grow Clinton.
